“The average level of employee absence has increased for the first time in two years and is now 3.7% of working time lost, or 8.4 days per employee per year”
- The Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, 2007 Report
Absences can have a very disruptive effect on any company, and while we don’t claim we are able to ensure your employees are at work on time every day, we can certainly help you reduce absences in both the short and long term.
The Focus system records the reason for the absence, and this
will build up into a series of reports on individual employees,
groups or sections. It can then be discussed with the specific
employee at the time of your six-monthly or yearly review.
This level of involvement has been shown to empower employees to take their absences more seriously, and we feel confident that you can reduce ‘unjustified absences’ significantly from the current industry standard of 14% of all absences.
Another useful feature of Focus is reporting on the Bradford Factor. This is named after a study at Bradford University which found that many absences of short periods of time were much more disruptive to the workplace than one absence of a longer period. Focus works out the Bradford Factor for all employees, and again can generate reports over specific times for individuals, sections or groups. The Bradford Factor is a completely impartial tool that can be used to highlight areas of concern, and can be linked to your company’s disciplinary procedure.
